Week 3 extension activity: The Magician
WALT: To include relative clauses in my writing.
Key task:
Write 5 (or more) sentences containing a “relative clause”?
E.g. The magician, who had incredible powers, strode confidently across the marble floor.
- It splits the main clause.
- The clause begins with ‘who’, ‘which’ or ‘with’.
- It must supply an extra bit of information to the sentence.
- Commas should surround the clause.
Think about these questions:
- What mood do you think the magician is in?
- Do you think he is a good or evil character?
- If you could have magical powers, what would you choose to be able to do?
- What do the words at the top of the picture say?
- Who lives inside the house?
Success criteria:
I will know I am successful when I have:
- Included a relative clause in my writing
- Used who, which or with in my writing
- Used commas to separate my clause
