Fruit colors drops

AIM:This experiment shows the different colors used to make fruit-flavored tablet candies.

material:

  1. Pencil
  2. Chromatography Paper
  3. Water
  4. Paint brush
  5. Ruler
  6. Cylinder
  7. Beaker


STEP 1: Draw a pencil line one centimeter from the bottom of a piece of chromatography paper.
STEP 2: Use a few drops of water to dissolve each candy. 
STEP 3:Paint several drops of the color in a small spot on the line.
STEP 4: Clean the brush and paint a different color of candy two centimeters from the first dot on the line. 
STEP 5:After you’ve placed all of the colors on the line, write the name of each candy color by the corresponding spot. 
STEP 6:Roll the paper into a cylinder, attach the ends using staples, and place in a beaker with water just touching the bottom of the paper.
STEP 7: Take the paper out and analyze the color separation once the water runs up to within an inch from the top of the paper.

Finger prints


Aim: To look at the different types of fingerprints.
Material: 

  1.   Magnifying glass
  2.   Ink pad
  3.   Balloon
  4.   Ink
  5.   Finger
  6.   powder
  7.   Air

Steps
  1. Find a balloon around your house
  2. then get a ink pad 
  3. and then place your finger and thumb in the ink 
  4. place the finger and thumb on the balloon
  5. then take it off let it dry 
  6. then blow it up
  7. and when it is blown up use a magnifying class to see what fingerprint you are.

Hidden fingerprints:

Aim: To learn how to lift hidden fingerprints from an object.

1. Lifting and Gathering fingerprints.

  2.   plastic paper folder

Method; 
  1.  i got some coco powder and a plastic paper holder.
  2.   and then i placed my finger on the holder 
  3.   then put coco powder on it with a brush
  4. and then use tape on the finger print to pick it up
  5.  then look at it with a magnifying glass

White Powder

Today you will be a forensic chemist. 
A bag of white powder has been confiscated by the airport customs. You need to find out what white powder it is?

Aim: To learn about the makeup of different white powders.

There are  a number of different white powders in our everyday life. Some of these are harmful and others are not. Test the four white powders listed to see which one has been found at the airport.

Here are some examples of everyday kitchen white powders.

On the black cardboard using a microscope you need to record what you see. You will be given a small amount of 4 white powders on your cardboard. Look at them under your microscope and record what you see. 
Do not mix the powders or taste the powders.

Most of the item crystallised  and also went grainy.
Some of the had no reaction.
The water and the vinegar also the iodine crystallised the sugar.

The water and the vinegar also the iodine made the salt grainy.

The water and the vinegar also the iodine made the baking soda had hardly any reaction except the vinegar fizzed it up.

The water and the vinegar also the iodine made the cornflour clumpy.




Making Sherbet


Using the following recipe you need to make sherbet.
Sherbet recipe

Recipe: 

1tsp of powdered drink crystals (eg refresh)
1/4 tsp citric acid
1/4 tsp tartaric acid
1/4 tsp -baking soda.
Put all ingredients into a zip lock bag, stir, and enjoy.

Materials:

1.  Tactic acid
2.  citrus acid 
3.  icing sugar
4.  spoon
5.  raro
6. zip lock bag

Findings:
It fizzs up in your mouth. 
The baking soda makes it fizz up more.
Then citris acid makes it sour.
the raro and the icing sugar sweet.
