For the past few weeks we have been making and designing a light board
First we imported a image to go on a piece of acrylic
Then we sent it to our teacher and he would connect it to the laser cutter
While we were waiting for our teacher to in grave our acrylic
We made a light box with 5 different sizes of wood and a led light strip and some wood glue then let it dry for a day and then when we came back our acrylic was done and we could put it in the light box that was done. Then we could take it home. Now I am the go to person for the laser cutter.

Working as a Team
Blog Reflection
The team game we played was: Pancake Wars
For this activity, I rate myself (circle one) 1 2 3 4
I gave myself this rating because (describe something that happened that supports the rating you gave yourself).
I gave myself this rating because I worked well with my team. I contributed throughout the game by encouraged my teammates to get involved.
What was something that was challenging about today’s activity? (in relation to teamwork)
What I found challenging was we were near the end of winning the game and then the other team stepped up their game and where getting our pancakes. Also when we were trying to get our other teammates out of jail and then we got tagged and it was a bit frustrating.
How did I overcome this challenge?
I stuck with the job I was doing which was getting people out of jail and if I got tagged I would just keep playing and not get angry about but in the end we won the game.

Music
In music a few weeks ago we went to the music suite. We got split up into two groups my group went with Mrs Allen Fletcher. When we got their Mrs Bear gave us a sheet and it was like a treasure hunt but for the instruments we had 9 instruments we had to find. We got questions like how many strings are on a ukulele and what songs we could play on the keyboard the song was Havana. We enjoyed going to the music suite because we got to learn and play different instruments that we've never played before well I haven't played before. I'm sure everyone learn't something new.The hardest instrument to play was the flute I enjoyed playing the drums and the electric drums.

Cooking
This week in food technology we have been looking at cookies, On Wednesday we prepared the cookie dough and on Thursday we weighed them and cooked them. I was in a team with Shontae and May.
When we weighed all of our cookie dough is came to a total of 369g.
After we got our total we had to divide it by 12 because we were making 12 cookies and our answer was 30g per cookie so after we go that, we had made 12 cookies as equal as they could be.
Then we rolled them into balls and put the one cookie we weighed on the corner then, we pressed down all of the cookies with a fork so there would be lines after that Shontae and May put them in the oven for about 14 minutes.
While they were cooking Shontae had a prediction that the weight of the cookies would go down because when they are cooking all the moisture would come out. She was correct our cookies now weighed 30g. We took the cookies out when they were a nice golden colour.

150 word challenge
It was silent. I looked out my window and everything was gone. My resources, my kai and even my fresh water.I walked outside and checked the village and no one was there. Then I went and checked if the waka was still there and it wasn't. I wondered why they left. I sat in my room for days starving and thirsty also wondering how I was going to survive on this island. As the days went past I was dehydrated and very hungry so I went out to the border of the island to the sea and thought to go fishing. I stood there for an hour, it was getting dark and no fish came up so I went back up to my village.I was feeling very drowsy and I needed to go to sleep.

wind power
Weather and Climate Change
Measuring weather.
Wind
Beaufort Force | Wind Speed (KPH) | Spins | Indicators | Terms Used in NWS Forecasts |
0 | 0-2 | 0 | Calm; smoke rises vertically. | Calm |
1 | 2-5 | 10 | Shown by direction of wind smoke drift, but not by wind vanes. | Light |
2 | 6-12 | 40 | Wind felt on face, leaves rustle; ordinary vanes moved by wind. | Light |
3 | 13-20 | 80 | Leaves and small twigs in constant motion; wind extends light flag. | Gentle |
4 | 21-29 | 130 | Raises dust and loose paper; small branches are moved. | Moderate |
5 | 30-39 | 190 | Small trees in leaf begin to sway; crested wavelets form on inland waters. | Fresh |
6 | 40-50 | 250 | Large branches in motion; whistling heard in telephone wires; umbrellas used with difficulty. | Strong |
7 | 51-61 | 320 | Whole trees in motion; inconvenience felt walking against the wind. | Strong |
8 | 62-74 | 390 | Breaks twigs off trees; generally impedes progress. | Gale |
9 | 75-87 | 470 | Slight structural damage. | Gale |
10 | 88-101 | 550 | Seldom experienced inland; trees uprooted; considerable structural damage occurs. | Whole gale |
11 | 102-116 | 640 | Very rarely experienced inland; accompanied by widespread damage. | Whole gale |
12 | 117 or more | 730+ | Very rarely experienced; accompanied by widespread damage. | Hurricane |
Wind speed - Making an anemometer.
MATERIALS
- pencil
- tape
- pin
- cups x4
- straw x4
STEPS
- Put holes in your cups
- Then put your straw in a cross and tape the straws together.
- Then n the end of the straws.
- Then you will be putting the pin in the pencil in the rubber bit.
- Then take it out side and see what happens.
Once you have made an anemometer we are going to record the wind speed.
Group size: 5
You will need:
Anemometer (above)
Roles:
- Timekeeper
- Counter
- Recorder
- Anemometer Manager
- Wind generator
- Mount the anemometer in a place that has full access to the wind from all directions.
- When the time keeper says "Go", the counter in each group will count how many times the marked cup passes them in one minute and write it down.
- If possible, repeat the above step four (4) times and record the average number of spins on the chart.
FINDINGS
- Record how many times it spins using the table below.
You will need to create the wind yourself by blowing. Get 4 different wind speeds by blowing.
You will need to time them and count the number of spins.
Time Interval | Number of Spins | |
1. | 10 | 4 |
2. | 10 | 7 |
3. | 10 | 8 |
4. | 10 | 8 |
- Can you make a statement connecting the number of spins of your anemometer and the speed of the wind?

Investigation.
Research the following Biomass fuels. You will need to:
Write a definition of the fuel.
Write 8 sentences about the fuel.
- How is it made?
- It is made from organic things such as vegetable scraps, banana, wood, corn and even horse manure.

- What is it made with?
- What countries use it?
- What uses will it have in the future?
Place 1 image of the fuel.
Biomass Fuel types.
Name: Agricultural crops and wood fuels.
Definition:
Agricultural crops such as silver grass and straw from cereal crops can be used as a fuel for production of heat. Herbaceous material has a different composition from wood and its burning must be handled differently from that of wood.
Research:
Wood energy is the use of wood fuel to produce heat or electricity.
Crop, In agriculture, a plant or plant product that can be grown and harvested extensively for profit or subsistence. By use, crops fall into six categories: food crops, for human consumption wheat, potatoes feed crops, for livestock consumption oats, alfalfa fibre crops
Uses:
Heating or electricity
Image:
Name: Animal waste.
Definition:
Pig Manure, Horse Manure, Cow Manure
Research:
Animal wastes are commonly considered the excreted materials from live animals. However, under certain production conditions, the waste may also include straw, hay, wood shavings, or other sources of organic debris.
Uses: Planting
Image:
Name: Bio gas
Definition:
Ethanol
Methanol
Methane
Research:
Biogas means a gas produced by the anaerobic digestion or fermentation of organic matter. The organic matter can be manure, sewage sludge, municipal solid waste, biodegradable waste or any other biodegradable feedstock. Biogas is mainly methane and carbon dioxide.
